Photographer’s Charlotte and Reuben went along to The Randolph Hotel, one of Oxford’s most iconic landmarks, to cover an event and to take a closer look at the grand old building that’s been welcoming visitors to the city since 1866.
Set right in the heart of Oxford, opposite the Ashmolean Museum, The Randolph has that unmistakable air of Victorian grandeur — soaring ceilings, sweeping staircases, sumptuous fabrics, and collegiate shields lining the walls in a nod to the university just outside its doors.
A must-see part of any visit has to be The Alice Room, the hotel’s playful, Alice in Wonderland inspired restaurant and bar. Oxford’s ties to Lewis Carroll run deep (he dreamt up the story just down the road at Christ Church), and the room leans into it beautifully, with whimsical illustrations, candy-pink booths and chandeliers galore. It’s the sort of space that makes you want to linger a little longer over your tea.
Whether you’re visiting for afternoon tea, a cocktail, or simply to admire the architecture and atmosphere, The Randolph is a slice of Oxford history and well worth experiencing.
