Having grown up in Stratford Upon Avon, by far the biggest town event is the annual Shakespeare Birthday Celebration parade. This year I was lucky enough to be commissioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company to photograph the celebration and the events they run as part of the day.
The parade featured Autin Dance‘s giant wheel as well as members of local schools and organisations from around the Stratford Upon Avon area.
The RSC’s procession consisted of Co-Artistic Directors Tamara Harvey and Daniel Evans as well as current and past production cast, community members and the unveiling of the new Community Flag.
The RSC put on workshops and crafts as well as hosting outdoor performances of their community partners. The Other Place also featured costumes on display and refreshments for RSC Patrons.
I had a fantastic time photographing the day. The weather and the events on show made it a treat to capture. We’re already excited for next year.
